Documentation support for reimbursement

Private care. Clear documentation.

Most travel and international health insurance policies use a pay-and-claim system: you pay for the service, receive the documents and claim reimbursement from your insurer.

How it works

Four steps, no ambiguity.

The exact process may vary between insurers. The pathway described here is the most common pay-and-claim process.

01

Check your policy terms

Ask your insurer whether the service is covered and if prior authorisation, contact with an assistance centre or a specific form is required.

02

Contact Doc On Call

Tell us which service you need. We check availability and the fee, then explain the process before you confirm.

03

Attend the visit and receive your documents

After the service you receive an electronic invoice. You can choose a digital medical report in Italian with an English version, or a paper report in Italian.

04

Submit your reimbursement claim

Send the documents through the channel specified by your insurer, observing all deadlines, deductibles, limits and contractual requirements.

How does reimbursement work with health insurance?

The most common method is pay-and-claim: you pay for the service, receive the invoice and clinical documentation, and submit your claim according to your policy terms and deadlines.

Is reimbursement guaranteed?

No. Coverage, reimbursable amounts, deductibles, limits and authorisations depend exclusively on your policy and insurer. Check them before booking.

Does Doc On Call bill the insurance company directly?

The process described on this page is pay-and-claim: unless a different arrangement is expressly confirmed, the patient pays for the service and then claims reimbursement from the insurer.

Which documents will I receive?

You always receive an electronic invoice. For the medical report, you may choose a digital version in Italian with an English version, or a paper report in Italian.

Can I request additional documents after the visit?

Yes. Doc On Call remains available afterwards to assess any additional documents requested by the insurer, when relevant and available.

Can I use any health insurance policy?

You can submit the documents to your insurer, but acceptance and reimbursement depend on your policy terms. Ask in advance whether the specific service is covered and which documents are required.

Doc On Call is not an emergency service.

For severe symptoms, immediate danger or a suspected medical emergency, call 112 or 118 immediately.
